Ethnolinguistics. Issues in Language and Culture

The annual Ethnolingwistyka. Problemy Języka i Kultury (Ethnolinguistics: Issues in Language and Culture) publishes research on the relationship between language on the one hand, and culture, humans, and society on the other. Ethnolinguistics is understood broadly as anthropological-cultural linguistics with a cognitive orientation. The journal was founded in 1988 by Jerzy Bartmiński as a platform for discussing issues of linguistic worldview, linguistic stereotypes, cultural concepts, and linguistically coded values. Since 2004, Etnolingwistyka has functioned as the organ of two ethnolinguistic commissions: a national one (within the Linguistics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences) and an international one (within the International Committee of Slavists).
