Professor Emeritus of UMCS, Lublin, Poland. Author or co-author of ten monographs, which have appeared in Polish, English, Russian, Serbian, and Czech. Mastermind and editor of the Dictionary of Folk Stereotypes and Symbols. Founder and Ed.-in-Chief of the journal Etnolingwistyka (until 2016). Editor or co-editor of numerous volumes on semantics, the language of folklore, and linguistic worldview. Head of two Ethnolinguistic Commissions: affiliated with the International Slavic Committee and the Linguistic Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Member of the Polish Academy of Learning.
