1.1. Editors are accountable for everything published in their journals.
1.2. Editors strive to meet the needs of readers and authors.
1.3. Editors strive to constantly improve their journal.
1.4. Editors have in-house procedures to assure the quality of the material to be published, including plagiarism control for new articles.
1.5. Editors put freedom of expression as the primary value of each contribution.
1.6. Editors strive to maintain the integrity of the academic record.
1.7. Editors make sure business needs do not compromise intellectual and ethical standards.
1.8. Editors are always willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed.
1.9. Editors encourage suggestions of authors, readers, international advisory board members, reviewers and editorial board members about ways of improving their journal’s processes.
1.10. Editors are aware of research into peer review and publishing and continually reassess their journal’s processes in the light of new findings.
1.11. Editors strive to ensure appropriate technical resources or guidance from experts (technical designers, statistical experts) needed to maintain high quality of the journal.
1.12. Editors support initiatives designed to reduce research and publication misconduct.
1.13. Editors support initiatives to educate researchers and prospective authors about publication ethics.
1.14. Editors assess the effects of their journal policies on author and reviewer behaviour and revise policies, as required, to encourage responsible behaviour and discourage misconduct.
1.15. Editors attempt to ensure that any publication appearing in the journal reflects the message of the reported article and is put in its original context.
2. RELATIONS WITH READERS
2.1. Readers are informed about who has funded research or other scholarly work and whether the funders had any role in the research and its publication and, if so, what this was.
2.2. All publications are reviewed by suitably qualified reviewers (including statistical review where appropriate), the identity of reviewers of individual articles is not revealed, a list of reviewers is published once a year. Reviewers are competent to judge the work and are free from disqualifying competing interests.
2.3. There are no non-peer-reviewed sections in Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature.
2.4. Editors strive to develop a transparency policy to encourage maximum disclosure about the provenance of non-research articles.
2.5. The journal adopts authorship system that promotes good practice and discourages misconduct (e.g. ghost and guest authors).
2.6. The journal informs readers about steps taken to ensure that submissions from members of the journal’s staff or editorial board receive an objective and unbiased evaluation.
3. RELATIONS WITH AUTHORS
3.1. Editors’ decisions to accept or reject a paper for publication are based on the paper’s importance, originality and clarity, and the study’s validity and its relevance to the readership of the journal. No other factors, such as authors\' origin, affiliation, academic title or experience play a decisive role in acceptance of manuscripts. Editorial decisions are not affected by the origins of the manuscript, including nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, or religion of the authors. Decisions to edit and publish are not in any way determined by the policies of governments or other agencies outside of the journal itself.
3.2. Editors do not reverse decisions to accept submissions unless copyright infringement or plagiarism are identified with the submission.
3.3. A description of peer review process is published in the code of conduct below, and editors are ready and willing to justify any important deviation from the described processes:
3.4. “Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literaure” has a mechanism for authors to appeal against editorial decisions. The author who wishes to appeal against the reviewing outcome needs to make a clearly justified statement and direct it to Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Prof. Robert Litwiński, at robert.litwinski@poczta.umcs.lublin.pl.
3.5. Editors publish submission guidelines detailing what is expected of authors. These guidelines are regularly updated and should refer to this code.
3.6. Editor-in-Chief respects requests from authors that an individual should not review their submission, if these are well-reasoned and practicable.
4. RELATIONS WITH REVIEWERS
4.1. Editors provide regularly updated guidance to reviewers on everything that is expected of them including the need to handle submitted material in confidence.
4.2. Reviewers are required to disclose any potential competing interests before agreeing to review a submission.
4.3. The journal has a system to ensure that peer reviewers’ identities are protected. The identity of reviewers of individual articles is not revealed, a list of reviewers is published once a year for all the articles published in this year.
4.4. Editors strive to ensure peer review at the journal is s fair, unbiased and timely.
4.5. Editors have a system to ensure that material submitted to their journal remains confidential while under review.
4.6. Reviewers are encouraged to comment on ethical questions and possible research and publication misconduct raised by submissions as well as on the originality of submissions, possibility of redundant publication or plagiarism.
4.7. Editors strive to encourage academic institutions to recognise peer review activities as part of the scholarly process.
4.8. Editors monitor the performance of peer reviewers and take steps to ensure this is of high standard.
4.9. Editors develop and maintain a database of suitable reviewers and update this on the basis of reviewer performance to make sure it reflects the community for the journal. A wide range of sources beyond personal contacts are used to identify potential new reviewers.
4.10. Editors cease to use reviewers whose reviews are not of acceptable quality or who do not meet deadlines.
5. RELATIONS WITH EDITORIAL BOARD MEMBERS
5.1. Editors provide new editorial board members with guidelines on everything that is expected of them and keep existing members updated on new policies and developments.
5.2. Submissions from editorial board members are anonymised and subject to the standard reviewing procedure to ensure unbiased review. The editorial position is not a factor deciding about the acceptance of the article.
5.3. Editor-in-Chief continually strives to identify suitably qualified editorial board members who can actively contribute to the development and good management of the journal.
5.4. Editor-in-Chief regularly reviews the composition of the editorial board and provides guidance to editorial board members about their expected functions and duties.
5.5. The following editorial responsibilities are shared among the members of the editorial board:
5.6. Editor-in-Chief consults editorial board members periodically (e.g. once a year) to gauge their opinions about the running of the journal, informing them of any changes to journal policies and identifying future challenge.
6. RELATIONS WITH JOURNAL OWNERS AND PUBLISHERS
6.1. The relationship of editors to Journal publishers is based firmly on the principle of editorial independence.
6.2. Editors make decisions on which articles to publish based on quality and suitability for the journal and without any interference from the journal owner.
7. QUALITY ASSURANCE
7.1. Editors take all reasonable steps to ensure the quality of the material they publish.
8. PROTECTING INDIVIDUAL DATA
8.1. Editors obey laws on confidentiality in their own jurisdiction.
8.2. Editors protect the confidentiality of individual information obtained in the course of research or professional interactions.
9. ENCOURAGING ETHICAL RESEARCH (E.G. RESEARCH INVOLVING HUMANS OR ANIMALS)
9.1. Editors endeavor to ensure that research they publish was carried out according to the relevant internationally accepted guidelines on ethics (e.g. American Educational Research Association ethical standards: http://www.aera.net/AboutAERA/Default.aspx?menu_id=90&id=222, British Educational Research Association ethical guidelines http://www.bera.ac.uk/publications/guidelines/, American Psychological Association ethical principles: http://www.apa.org/ethics/code/index.aspx).
9.2. Editors seek assurances that all research has been approved by an appropriate body (e.g. research ethics committee, institutional review board) where one exists. However, such approval does not guarantee that the research is ethical.
9.3. Editors request authors\' clarification on ethical aspects (such as how research participant consent was obtained or what methods were employed to ensure child student protection) if concerns are raised or clarifications are needed.
10. DEALING WITH POSSIBLE MISCONDUCT
10.1. Editors have a duty to act if they suspect misconduct or if an allegation of misconduct is brought to them, both in case of published and unpublished papers.
10.2. Editors do not simply reject papers that raise concerns about possible misconduct, instead, they are ethically obliged to pursue alleged cases.
10.3. Editors first seek a response from those suspected of misconduct. If they are not satisfied with the response, they ask the relevant employers, or institution, or some appropriate body (perhaps a regulatory body or national research integrity organization) to investigate.
10.4. Editors make all reasonable efforts to ensure that a proper investigation into alleged misconduct is conducted.
11. ENSURING THE INTEGRITY OF THE ACADEMIC RECORD
11.1. Errors, inaccurate or misleading statements are corrected immediately at the request of anyone interested in the article (author, reviewer, reader, publisher).
11.2. Editors ensure that published material is securely archived in CEEOL and EBSCO databases as well as on the Journal\'s secure server.
11.3. Authors of published papers are free to republish the articles elsewhere provided clear reference and link to the original publication is given.
12. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
12.1. Editors are alert to intellectual property issues and strive to handle potential breaches of intellectual property laws and conventions.
12.2. Editors support authors whose copyright has been breached or who have been the victims of plagiarism.
12.3. Editors are willing to work with the publisher to defend authors’ rights and pursue offenders (e.g. by requesting retractions or removal of material from websites) of articles published in Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature.
13. ENCOURAGING DEBATE
13.1. Editors encourage and are willing to consider cogent criticisms of work published in their journal.
13.2. Authors of criticised material are given the opportunity to respond. They are asked to produce their response within the period of two weeks. If they decide to do so, both the criticism and the response are published in the same issue, in that order.
13.3. Studies reporting negative results are not excluded.
14. COMMERCIAL CONSIDERATIONS
14.1. Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature has a clear policy on ensuring that commercial considerations do not affect editorial decisions. There is no advertising in individual articles.
14.2. Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature does not accept sponsored articles for publication. Articles may be submitted by representatives of companies, however, they are subject to the same reviewing procedure and standards as other submissions.

1. OBLIGATIONS DES RÉDACTEURS
1.1. Les rédacteurs sont responsables de tous les contenus publiés dans la revue.
1.2. Les rédacteurs s’efforcent de répondre aux besoins des lecteurs et des auteurs.
1.3. Les rédacteurs s’efforcent d’améliorer constamment la revue.
1.4. Les rédacteurs surveillent la qualité des articles soumis à la publication et procèdent à la détection de plagiats.
1.5. Les rédacteurs traitent la liberté de la parole comme la valeur principale de chaque article.
1.6. Les rédacteurs s’efforcent de préserver l’intégrité de la documentation scientifique publiée dans la revue académique.
1.7. Les rédacteurs veillent à ce que les besoins concernant la sphère des affaires ne compromettent pas les standards intellectuels et éthiques.
1.8. Les rédacteurs sont toujours prêts à publier, si nécessaire, les corrections, les clarifications, les rétractations et les excuses.

2. RELATIONS AVEC LES LECTEURS
2.1. Les lecteurs disposent des informations concernant les auteurs des articles ou d’autres travaux de recherche publiés et du rôle qu’ils y ont joué.
2.2. Chaque article est évalué par des évaluateurs dûment qualifiés (y compris l’évaluation statistique, si nécessaire). L’identité des évaluateurs des articles particuliers n’est pas révélée, la liste des évaluateurs est publiée une fois par an. Les évaluateurs disposent des compétences nécessaires pour évaluer les textes soumis à la publication et ne sont pas convoqués dans les situations où il y a un de conflits d’intérêts.
2.3. Dans la revue Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature, il n’existe pas de sections non soumises à l’évaluation par les pairs.
2.4. Les rédacteurs s’efforcent de développer la politique de transparence pour signaler les articles non fondés sur les résultats des recherches.
2.5. La revue surveille l’intégrité en recherche scientifique et développe des pratiques destinées à la prévention de ghostwriting et guest authorship.
2.6. La revue informe les lecteurs des mesures prises pour assurer que les articles soumis à la publication par les membres du Comité éditorial soient évalués de manière objective et impartiale.
3. RELATIONS AVEC LES AUTEURS
3.1. Les décisions du Comité éditorial concernant l’acceptation ou le rejet de l’article soumis à la publication prennent en compte l’importance, l’originalité, la clarté de l’article, la validité de la recherche et sa conformité au profil des lecteurs de la revue. Aucun autre facteur, comme l’origine, l’affiliation, le titre ou l’expérience des auteurs n’influe pas sur l’acceptation des manuscrits. Les décisions prises par les rédacteurs ne sont pas influencées par l’origine du manuscrit, y compris la nationalité, l’origine ethnique, les convictions politiques, la race ou la religion des auteurs. Les décisions concernant la publication ou le rejet des articles ne sont pas influencées par la politique du gouvernement ou d’autres institutions extérieures à la revue.
3.2. Les rédacteurs n’annulent pas les décisions concernant l’acceptation de l’article à la publication sauf les cas où l’on constate la violation des droits d’auteur ou le plagiat.
3.3. La description du processus de l’évaluation par les pairs est publiée dans le Code de Conduite ci-dessous. Les éditeurs sont prêts à justifier toutes les déviations importantes aux procédures suivantes:
3.4. Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literaure a établi une démarche qui permet aux auteurs de contester les décisions des rédacteurs. 3.5. Les rédacteurs publient les Directives aux auteurs où l’on explique les exigences concernant les articles soumis à la publication. Ces directives sont régulièrement mises à jour et prennent en compte le Code de Conduite.
3.6. Le rédacteur en chef respecte les demandes des auteurs de ne pas soumettre le texte à l’évaluation par un évaluateur concret, si celles-ci sont bien motivées et faisables.
4. RELATIONS AVEC LES ÉVALUATEURS
4.1. Les rédacteurs renseignent les évaluateurs sur leurs obligations ainsi que sur la nécessité d’assurer la confidentialité du processus d’évaluation.
4.2. Les évaluateurs sont obligés de signaler tous les cas de conflit d’intérêts potentiel avant d’accepter de faire l’évaluation.
4.3. La revue dispose d’un système qui garantit la protection d’identité des pairs. L’identité des évaluateurs des articles particuliers n’est pas révélée. La liste des évaluateurs est publiée une fois par an pour tous les articles publiés l’année donnée.
4.4. Les rédacteurs s’efforcent de garantir que l’évaluation par les pairs soit juste, impartiale et qu’elle respecte les délais imposés.
4.5. Les rédacteurs disposent du système qui garantit la confidentialité des articles soumis au processus d’évaluation par les pairs.
4.6. Les évaluateurs sont encouragés à fournir des commentaires sur les questions éthiques et signaler les inconduites détectées dans les travaux de recherche ou les articles soumis à la publication concernant l’originalité du texte, l’autoplagiat ou le plagiat.
4.7. Les rédacteurs s’efforcent d’encourager les institutions universitaires à reconnaître les activités qui incluent l’évaluation par les pairs comme une partie du processus scolaire.
4.8. Les rédacteurs surveillent le travail des pairs et prennent des mesures pour en assurer la haute qualité.
4.9. Les rédacteurs développent et maintiennent une base de données des évaluateurs compétents. Cette base est mise à jour en fonction des performances des évaluateurs qui forment un groupe de collaborateurs les plus proches. Au-delà de contacts personnels, toutes autres possibilités sont exploitées pour repérer de nouveaux évaluateurs.
4.10. Les rédacteurs arrêtent la collaboration avec les évaluateurs qui ne fournissent pas les évaluations de qualité ou ne respectent pas les délais.
5. RELATIONS AVEC LES MEMBRES DU COMITÉ ÉDITORIAL
5.1. Les rédacteurs renseignent les nouveaux membres du Comité éditorial sur leurs obligations ainsi que sur la politique de la revue et sa situation actuelle.
5.2. Les soumissions des membres du Comité éditorial sont anonymes et respectent la procédure ordinaire d’évaluation par les pairs pour assurer une évaluation objective. La position du rédacteur ne détermine pas l’acceptation de l’article.
5.3. Le rédacteur en chef s’efforce constamment de repérer des membres du Comité éditorial compétents à contribuer au développement et à la bonne gestion de la revue.
5.4. Le rédacteur en chef révise régulièrement la composition du Comité éditorial et fournit à ses membres les informations concernant leurs fonctions et obligations.
5.5. Les membres du Comité éditorial sont chargés de:

6.2. Les décisions des rédacteurs concernant le choix des articles à publier reposent sur leur qualité et la conformité au profil de la revue et le propriétaire de la revue n’y influe pas.
7. ASSURANCE DE LA QUALITÉ
7.1. Les rédacteurs prennent tous les mesures raisonnables pour assurer la bonne qualité des articles publiés.
8. PROTECTION DES DONNÉES PERSONNELLES
8.1. Les rédacteurs respectent la loi sur la confidentialité, conformément à leur propre juridiction.
8.2. Les rédacteurs protègent la confidentialité des informations personnelles reçues au cours des recherches ou des interactions professionnelles.
9. ENCOURAGEMENT DE LA RECHERCHE ÉTHIQUE (par exemple la recherche qui engage les gens ou les animaux)
9.1. Les rédacteurs s’efforcent de savoir si les recherches dont les résultats sont publiés ont été menées conformément aux directives d’éthique acceptées au niveau international (par exemple par American Educational Research Association ethical standards http://www.aera.net/AboutAERA/Default.aspx?menu_id=90&id=222, British Educational Research Association ethical guidelines http://www.bera.ac.uk/publications/guidelines, American Psychological Association ethical principles http://www.apa.org/ethics/code/index.aspx).
9.2. Les rédacteurs tâchent de s’assurer, si nécessaire, que toutes les recherches ont été acceptées par une institution compétente en la matière (par exemple le comité d’éthique de la recherche, les comités de protection des personnes). Cependant, une telle acceptation ne garantit pas le côté éthique de la recherche.
9.3. Si nécessaire, les rédacteurs demandent aux auteurs des précisions sur les aspects éthiques (y compris sur la manière dont on a obtenu l’accord des participants à la recherche ou sur les méthodes appliquées pour assurer la protection des enfants/des étudiants).
10. POLITIQUE DANS LES CAS DES INCONDUITES10.1. Les rédacteurs sont obligés de réagir dans les situations où l’on soupçonne ou constate les inconduites dans les articles publiés ou non.
10.2. Les rédacteurs rejettent les textes qui suscitent des doutes sur le respect des standards éthiques et ils réagissent dans chaque situation où des inconduites sont signalées.
10.3. Premièrement, les rédacteurs demandent des explications aux personnes soupçonnées de l’inconduite. Si l’explication n’est pas satisfaisante, ils peuvent demander aux employeurs, à l’institution ou aux autorités compétentes (p. ex. une institution de réglementation ou une organisation veillant sur l’intégrité en recherche internationale) de mener une enquête.
10.4. Les rédacteurs font tout leur possible pour poursuivre leur propre enquête dans les cas des inconduites constatées.
11. PRÉSERVATION DE L’INTÉGRITÉ DE LA DOCUMENTATION SCIENTIFIQUE PUBLIÉE DANS LA REVUE
11.1. Les fautes, les déclarations erronées ou les équivoques sont immédiatement corrigés sur demande des personnes concernées par l’article particulier (auteur, évaluateur, lecteur, éditeur).
11.2. Les rédacteurs assurent que les documents publiés sont archivés en toute sécurité dans les bases de données CEEOL et EBSCO et aussi sur le serveur de la revue.
11.3. Les auteurs des articles publiés peuvent republier leurs articles ailleurs à condition de citer la référence complète de la publication originale et y attacher le lien hypertexte.
12. PROPRIÉTÉ INTELLECTUELLE
12.1. Les rédacteurs sont vigilants aux questions de la propriété intellectuelle et s’efforcent de traiter leurs violations conformément à la loi et aux conventions en vigueur.
12.2. Les rédacteurs soutiennent les auteurs dont les droits ont été violés ou qui sont victimes du plagiat.
12.3. Les rédacteurs sont prêts à collaborer avec l’éditeur pour défendre les droits d’auteur et poursuivre ceux qui les ont enfreints (par exemple en demandant la rétractation ou l’enlèvement des textes publiés sur une page Web) à l’égard des articles publiés dans Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature.
13. ENCOURAGEMENT DU DÉBAT
13.1. Les rédacteurs prennent en considération les critiques convaincantes et encouragent les débats sur les articles publiés dans la revue.
13.2. Les auteurs des articles critiqués ont la possibilité d’y répondre. Il leur est demandé de le faire en deux semaines. S’ils décident de réagir, la critique et la réponse sont publiées dans le même numéro, dans le présent ordre.
13.3. Les recherches qui aboutissent à des résultats négatifs ne sont pas exclues de la publication.
14. QUESTIONS COMMERCIALES
14.1. Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature poursuit une politique claire pour assurer que les questions commerciales n’influencent pas les décisions des rédacteurs. Il n’y a pas de publicités dans les articles particuliers.
14.2. Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature n’accepte pas à la publication d’articles sponsorisés. Les articles peuvent être présentés par des représentants de sociétés, mais ils sont soumis aux mêmes procédures d’évaluation que les autres textes.

2. ОТНОШЕНИЯ С ЧИТАТЕЛЯМИ
2.1. Читателей информируют о том, кто финансировал исследования или другую проделанную научную работу, и сыграли ли спонсоры какую-либо роль в исследовании и его публикации, и если да, то, какую конкретно.
2.2. Все публикации рассматриваются компетентными рецензентами (включая, в случае необходимости, статистический анализ). Фамилии рецензентов отдельных статей не раскрываются, список рецензентов публикуется один раз в год. Рецензенты вправе самостоятельно оценивать свою работу и безопасны в отношении конкурентных интересов.
2.3. В “Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature” нет рецензируемых разделов.
2.4. Редакторы стремятся развивать политику прозрачности, чтобы поощрять максимальное раскрытие информации о происхождении статей, не связанных с исследованиями.

4.4. Редакторы стремятся обеспечить справедливую, объективную и своевременную экспертную оценку в журнале. Редакторы защищенной системы, гарантирующей конфиденциальность рассматриваемых в журнале материалов.
4.5. Поощряется комментирование претендентами этических вопросов и возможных нарушений, связанных с исследованиями и публикациями, рассматриваемыми материалами и их оригинальности, а также потенциальности дублирования уже опубликованных статей, том числе, плагиата.
4.6. Рецензентам рекомендуется занять позицию по вопросам потенциальных этических ошибок в статьях, а также рассмотреть необходимость данной рукописи.
4.7. Редакторы контролируют производительность рецензентов и предпринимают шаги, гарантирующие её высокий уровень.
4.8. Редакторы развивают и ведут базу данных подходящих рецензентов и обновляют ее на основе продуктивности рецензента, чтобы убедиться, что она отражает интересы сообщества журнала.
4.9. Для выявления потенциально новых рецензентов используется широкий спектр источников, помимо личных контактов.4.10.Редакторы расторгают сотрудничество с рецензентами, чьи рецензии не отвечают высокому качеству или не соответствуют срокам.

12.2. Редакторы поддерживают авторов, авторские права которых были нарушены или стали объектом плагиата.

Gegründet 1972 erscheint jetzt als Vierteljahresschrift im März, Juni, September und Dezember. Die Zeitschrift hat zum Ziel, eine frei zugängliche Plattform für den Gedankenaustausch zwischen den erfahrenen sowie Nachwuchswissenschaftlern zu bieten, die in allen relevanten Bereichen im Rahmen der europäischen Sprachen forschen. Es werden unterschiedliche wissenschaftliche Theorien, methodologische Perspektiven und Interpretationsmethoden willkommen, so dass sie sich gegenseitig ergänzen und somit eine vertiefte Darstellung aktueller Fragestellungen der zeitgenössischen Sprach- und Literaturforschung ermöglichen. In der Zeitschrift werden nur innovative Beiträge publiziert sowie thematisch orientierte Bände vorgeschlagen, die mit dem Fokus der Zeitschrift übereinstimmen und aktuelle Tendenzen in der Forschung thematisieren. Die Redaktion erhebt keine Gebühren für die Bearbeitung und Veröffentlichung von Beiträgen im Open-Access-Modell. Lublin Studies in Modern Languages and Literature (formerly Lubelskie Materiały Neofilologiczne) is a scholarly journal published by the Faculty of Humanities of Maria Curie Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland. The journal publishes research articles and reviews within the main areas of philological studies (linguistics, literary studies, culture studies, translation studies, foreign language teaching) in all modern foreign languages. LSMLL has been a yearly since 1976, initially, the publisher was Modern Language Association of Poland, Lublin branch, then between 1994 and 2004 Institute of German of Maria Curie Skłodowska University (MCSU).
